PM Imran Khan inaugurates Pakistan’s first Science and Technology Park

Inauguration ceremony of Pakistan’s first Science and Technology park (NSTP) held at National University of Science and Technology (NUST) Jinnah auditorium by PM Imran Khan in Islamabad.

Science and Technology park is a part of  Prime Minister’s vision to transform Pakistan into knowledge economy. NUST is the institution behind the setup of Science and Technology Park. NSTP is located at the heart of Pakistan’s magnificent capital Islamabad. Including

The National Science and Technology Park NSTP will be Pakistan’s first and largest innovation and research ecosystem with the capacity of accommodation over 40 companies including start-ups, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and other tech companies, by Radio Pakistan.

Task force chaired by Dr Atta-ur-Rehman is advising the government in achieving this objective said PM Imran while addressing the inauguration ceremony at National University of Science and Technology.

The Government will put exceptional emphasis on science and technology education and introduce modern technologies to unleash potential of youth, Radio Pakistan quoted PM.

PM Imran Khan acknowledged the initiative and assured to provide all possible support to the university to take it forward.

PM remarked, equipping youth with the latest technologies will help create immense opportunities for them.

While addressing the inauguration ceremony Prime Minster commended the students to ‘’achieve greatness’’ and never get stressed or demoralized by failures and setbacks. “Always follow your heart because therein lies passion to achieve greatness,”spoken by Imran Khan.“You should not be disheartened by any setback you face in life as setbacks alone cannot defeat you,” the prime minister said.

Chief of Army Staff   General Qamar Javed Bajwa also attending the ceremony vowed to transform Pakistan into knowledge economy by equipping the youth with the latest technologies.

‘’I was criticized for appointing Fawad Chaudhry as Minister for Science and Technology and people used to say that Ian not taking science and technology seriously – but a good captain knows best about his players.’’ said Imran Khan.

Imran Khan said that the government will lay more emphasis to science and technology education to enable youth to reach their highest potential.

The Science and Technology will be located in the proximity of National University of Science and Technology NUST which had secured the approval of Public-Private Partnership Authority’s (PPPA) Board to start the process for its flagship project.

‘’Pakistan was once a poised nation, but we have become dependent on others even for idea’’ moaned PM Imran. He further added the development during 1960s was never due to foreigners but it was because of the country’s own institutions.

The Science and Technology Park inaugurated will serve as a platform for country’s researchers, innovators and entrepreneurs.

The eight main thematic areas of NSTP will include agriculture technology, education technology, automobile technology, energy technology, defense technology, finance technology, health technology and smart technology and will increase in number, scope and breadth in following years.

With its well established ecosystem to support innovation, technology transfer and commercialization NUST is best suitable host for NSTP.

The aim of the initiative is to build knowledge of economy of Pakistan by stimulating and nurturing innovation- led germination and growth of hi-tech entities.
